Q: How or why did you becoming involved with the Haldeman After School Program?
I volunteered one evening at the Halloween event, and I was hooked after that.
Q: What kind of work do you do with the students?
I lead a program on health promotion topics such as adequate hand washing, proper nutrition, exercise, and overall health.
Q: What’s been your most memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had since becoming a volunteer?
The most rewarding experience at the Haldeman After School Program has been working with the kids. The excitement and smiles on their faces when we play a game they enjoy or learn about a subject that interests them is worth more than words can explain.
Q: Why do you think the Haldeman After School Program is a vital asset to the community?
Providing children with an opportunity of this magnitude shapes the lives of not only the individual, but also the entire community.
Q: What would you say to someone thinking about getting involved with the Haldeman After School Program?
The Haldeman After School Program is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. You may go to the center with intentions of helping with homework or teaching a lesson, but the kids will teach you so much more than you could ever learn anywhere else.
