Q: How long have you been involved with the Haldeman Community?
I went to school at Haldeman Grade School, I got married at the Haldeman Church, and I lived on Big Perry Road until I was married.
Q: How long have you been a board member of the Haldeman Community Center?
Since July 2014.
Q: How has the Haldeman Community changed throughout the years?
The brick yard that was here is gone along with the post office, and the Haldeman School (the building burned). It’s all very sad!
Q: Why do you think the Haldeman Community Center is a vital part to the community?
I think that it is a vital part of the community because it is centrally located in Haldeman and the building is strong and is important for a community shelter if needed.
Q: What kind of work do you do with the Haldeman Community Center?
I help with the events at the center such as serving food and collecting donations. I also share upcoming events on Facebook to help spread the word to the community!
Q: What would you like to see happen to the Haldeman Community in the future?
I would like to see air conditioning installed because I think that more people would attend the events held at the center.
Q: What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had with the Haldeman Center since becoming a board member?
To date, my most rewarding experience was when I helped serve food during the car show at the Haldeman Center and I enjoyed seeing a great turnout for the event.
Q: Why should people get involved with the After School Program and the Center’s other endeavors?
People should get involved so they will know what is available in our community and also the more people who get involved makes it easier for the volunteers to share the work with others.
Q: What are some specific projects, equipment, or supplies that the Haldeman Community Center require in order to keep operating?
First priority is money! Then I would like to see air conditioning installed. Air conditioning would make a more comfortable environment which would help attract more people to our events.
