Q: How long have you been involved with the Haldeman Community?
For about three and a half years
Q: How has the Haldeman Community changed throughout the years?
One of the best things is the After School Program for all of the children. Also, there have been a lot of improvements at the center. We have acquired generators to use in case of power outages in the event of disaster. We are also starting a new park in memory of Sam Bowen.
Q: Why do you think that the Haldeman Community Center is a vital part of the community?
It is a place for the community to get together and hold lots of activities for the residents of the community. It’s a good meeting place.
Q: What kind of work do you do with the Haldeman Community Center?
I am the secretary for the Haldeman Center and I help with the activities that the Center has..
Q: What would you like to see happen to the Haldeman Community in the future?
We would like to hold more classes to benefit the adults in the community, such as craft classes. I would also like to see more involvement with the people who live near the center. More growth, ultimately.
Q: Please write a brief summary of the Haldeman Community Center for those who are unfamiliar with it and the work they do.
The Haldeman Hayes Crossing Community Center’s goal is to be a place for the children in the community to come for activities, in a safe and drug-free environment. The center strives to inspire others in their lives and to be of help in times of trouble. To build up the community.
Q: Why should people get involved with the After School Program and the Center’s other endeavors?
To help the growth of the center – we need all of the residents too but it is for them. Help teach the younger children respect for the community, to keep it alive.
Q: What are some specific projects, equipment, or supplies that the Haldeman Community Center require in order to keep operating?
As a non-profit organization, we are always in need of money to pay for utilities, the after school expenses, food expenses for all of the fundraising activities, etc. We also need help in manual labor from the community to make improvements on the building and the grounds. We also need to finish the outdoor park for the Haldeman Center.
